Farm Etiquette
When visiting any farm, its a good idea to practice farm etiquette. It is our experience that a lot of urbanites don't understand farm life. So here are some guidelines when planning a visit to a farm. Always call before visiting a farm. Farmers are busy people and want to be available for you when you arrive. Generally speaking, farmers will not allow people to go wandering about the farm without an escort. A farm is not a petting zoo so don't expect to be able to show up and be able to handle the chicks or other farm animals. Yes, we know you want too! Farmers are busy people and will schedule a special day for tours in which you can pet and handle the chicks, rabbits, goats. Please leave any pets at home. Dogs especially, and children running, will stress out the farm animals. Please do not smoke cigarettes at the farm. Certain vegetable plants can contract diseases from the smoke. ALWAYS call before coming to the farm. Farmers will set up a time for your visit. KNOW what it is you want. Do your chicken research before hand. Check our availability list below. We can help you make your final decisions. Be prepared to make your purchase and always bring a box or carrier in which to take home live animals. Turn off the cell phone. Always beware of and respect fences and barriers. They can shock you as they are electric. Remember, the farm is our home, from which we make our livelihood. Please respect that by not wandering around without an appointment or escort, or picking our food. These rules apply to any farm you may be interested in visiting. Following these rules will help make your visit less stressful for everyone, including the livestock and farmers!
Be sure to check the link for classes and tours. Suzanne just updated the schedule.

Suzanne was recently featured in a newspaper article on composting worms. Here is the link Composting With Worms Worm castings are the best source of soluble phosphorus which is neccessary for fruit development, think tomatoes and peppers. Its easy to maintain a worm composter. One pound of Red Wiggler earthworms will be a good start and they sell for $30 per pound. A complete worm kit with worms, composter and bedding material is $70 and ready to go. Every order is freshly harvested and comes with an adequate amount of worm castings to keep worms happy for the ride home. Order with Suzanne at 321-505-4066. Growboxes
Want to have a garden but don't want to dig up the yard? Tired of spending lots of money to put in a garden and not getting good yields? Soil in Florida is sandy. It doesn't hold the amount of moisture or nutrients that veggie plants need to thrive. Suzanne came up with a design to create your own self watering container for growing awesome veggies. Growbox contains the nutrients and water and they don't wash away. They stay inside the box at the rootzone where nutrients need to be. Works great with worm tea as your nutrient source for an organic, closed system, food web which is Hydroganic. She teaches workshops and has a book on CD on how to make your own so you can make as many as you want! Give her a call to take a workshop at your convenience. 321-505-4066
